Hong Kong Disneyland Spreads Family Magic
During the Mid-Autumn Festival

HONG KONG (September 27, 2004) - Hong Kong Disneyland celebrates the Mid-Autumn Festival this year with a magical castle lantern based on the Disney fairytale classic Sleeping Beauty. The family entertainment park also spread the Disney magic to 750 underprivileged families with Mickey Mouse-themed mooncakes through its Disney VoluntEARS program.

Visitors to the Mid-Autumn Lantern Carnival in Victoria Park will be treated to a spectacular lantern display as Hong Kong Disneyland lights up the night with a miniature lantern replica of its world-famous Sleeping Beauty Castle.

Measuring an impressive six meters tall and 10 meters wide, this enchanting castle lantern was hand-sewn using 100,000 stitches over 600 meters of fabric. Four hundred light bulbs will be used to recreate the Disney fairytale icon destined to delight the young and young at heart.

It is expected that more than 120,000 members of the public will visit the Sleeping Beauty Castle lantern area.

This is the third year that Hong Kong Disneyland joins hands with the Leisure & Cultural Services Department of the HKSAR Government to entertain members of the Hong Kong public with Disney magic through its presence in the Victoria Park.

Meanwhile, Hong Kong Disneyland and DisneyHand donated 750 boxes of mooncakes featuring Mickey Mouse designs through the territory-wide service units under the Social Welfare Department. Around 100 of these families were also invited to Tai Po and North District Community Centers to celebrate this festive season.

About Hong Kong Disneyland
The Hong Kong Disneyland project was announced in November 1999 as a venture between The Walt Disney Company and the Hong Kong SAR Government. With the completion of reclamation for Hong Kong Disneyland Phase I by the Hong Kong SAR Government, Disney began construction in January 2003 with the project scheduled to open in late 2005/ early 2006. The opening day program for Hong Kong Disneyland will include a Disneyland-style theme park and two hotels. The Phase I build-out includes a projected 10 million annual visitor Disneyland-style theme park, 2,100 hotel rooms, and an area for retail, dining and entertainment. The project is estimated to create 18,000 new jobs at opening (both Disney and other employment) growing to 36,000 once the first park reaches build-out. The Hong Kong SAR Government estimated that the first phase of the project will generate a present economic value of HK$148 billion (US$19 billion) in benefits to Hong Kong over a 40-year period.
