Hong Kong Legislative Council Members Witness the Magic at Work at Hong Kong Disneyland

(HONG KONG, April 15, 2005) - Members of Hong Kong's Legislative Council visited the Hong Kong Disneyland site today to experience first-hand the magical progress of the very first Disney theme park in China.

Accompanied by executives from Hong Kong Disneyland and officials from the Hong Kong SAR Government, they visited the Disney theme park and received a preview of Disney's Hollywood Hotel. Members were pleased to witness the exciting and on-schedule progress of the park's construction.

Hong Kong Disneyland group managing director Don Robinson said: "The response from the Legislative Council Members was tremendous and they were very excited to see how the park is progressing.

"When Hong Kong Disneyland opens on September 12, the people of Hong Kong and around the region will be able to experience for themselves the magical family entertainment experience we will provide."

Regarding recent discussions about park ticket sales, Robinson said Hong Kong Disneyland had yet to finalize the ticketing arrangements. "We know there have been many discussions regarding the ticket sales and we appreciate the input we have received. We will consider all the options and make the best arrangement for our guests and Hong Kong Disneyland."

"The addition of Hong Kong Disneyland in September to our existing range of attractions would greatly boost Hong Kong's position as Asia's premier tourist destination and help reposition Hong Kong as the preferred destination for family tourism in the region," said Commissioner for Tourism Eva Cheng, who also took part in the visit.

Hong Kong Disneyland will open on September 12, 2005, and has already started taking bookings for its two hotels with the launch of the Hotel Reservations Centre on February 15.

About Hong Kong Disneyland
The Hong Kong Disneyland project was announced in 1999 as a venture between The Walt Disney Company and the Hong Kong SAR Government. With the completion of reclamation for Hong Kong Disneyland Phase I by the Hong Kong SAR Government, theme park and resort construction began in January 2003, with the project now scheduled to open on 12th September, 2005. At opening day, Hong Kong Disneyland will comprise a theme park and two hotels.

The Phase I build-out includes a projected 10 million annual visitor Disneyland-style theme park, 2,100 hotel rooms, and an area for retail, dining and entertainment. The project is estimated to create 18,000 new jobs at opening (both Disney and other employment) growing to 36,000 once the first park reaches build-out. The Hong Kong SAR Government estimated that the first phase of the project will generate a present economic value of HK$148 billion (US$19 billion) in benefits to Hong Kong over a 40-year period.
