Hong Kong Disneyland Seeks 'First Family' to be Part of the Grand Opening Magic
(HONG KONG, June 13, 2005) - Hong Kong Disneyland is offering Hong Kong families the chance to experience the magic and join in the park's grand opening day spectacular on September 12, 2005.
The Hong Kong Disneyland First Family program, to be launched tomorrow (14 June), is open to all permanent Hong Kong residents.
Families comprising four members and who are passionate about Disney are invited to submit one of their happiest family photos between June 14 and 24, 2005. Family photos, which should be taken within the last year, should be in color and 3R or 4R in size.
Hong Kong Disneyland will select the top 25 photos and invite these families to design their own First Family-themed costumes where they will model themselves in a fashion show on July 17, 2005.
Fifteen finalists will be selected from the fashion show to play for the First Family honor in a Disney-inspired quiz and variety show to be broadcast on TVB on August 13, 2005. The program will be filmed on location at Hong Kong Disneyland and families will be quizzed on their knowledge of Disney trivia. Each family is welcome to bring along four cheerleaders to support them in striving to be Hong Kong Disneyland's First Family.
The final winner will then be honored the "First Family" and be invited to put on their special designed costume on September 12, 2005 as they take part in the Hong Kong Disneyland Grand Opening ceremony.
"The First Family is a time-honored tradition that has been a special part of every Disney theme park grand opening dating back to the original Disneyland in 1955," Hong Kong Disneyland Vice President Marketing and Sales Roy Tan Hardy said. "Hong Kong Disneyland is carrying on the wonderful Disney tradition of family togetherness by providing a place where all members of the family can have fun together. The First Family will symbolize every family that reunites at Hong Kong Disneyland to create a lifetime of magical memories."

In addition, all entries should include personal information including name, HKID or birth certificate no., age and relationship between each participating family member plus the phone number and mailing address of the participating family. Successful entrants will be notified by phone between June 28 and 30, 2005.

About Hong Kong Disneyland
The Hong Kong Disneyland project was announced in 1999 as a venture between The Walt Disney Company and the Hong Kong SAR Government. With the completion of reclamation for Hong Kong Disneyland Phase I by the Hong Kong SAR Government, theme park and resort construction began in January 2003, with the project now scheduled to open on 12th September, 2005.
