Hong Kong Wish Recipient Selected as Ambassador to the Make-A-Wish® Foundation's 25th Anniversary
Chin Kam Pui and Family Represent Make-A-Wish® Hong Kong at the Celebration of Wish Families Past and Present
(HONG KONG, October 13, 2005) - When Stephanie Chin Kam Pui wished upon a star, Make-A-Wish® Foundation Hong Kong and Disney were there to make her dream come true. Last week, the 11-year-old girl visited the Disneyland Resort® in the United States to help celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Make-A-Wish Foundation®. Stephanie is one of only 75 "wish kids" from around the world selected to serve as an ambassador to this celebration.
During the anniversary celebration, Stephanie was a featured guest during celebration dinners with Disney characters, shared a birthday cake with the "Official Wish Granter" - the Genie from Aladdin, was a part of the fun of the 50,000th Disney theme park wish granted, rode in a Disneyland parade, enjoy Disney's "Aladdin - A Musical Spectacular" and attended a live concert at Disney's California Adventure Park.
In early 2002, Stephanie was diagnosed with hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis, a disorder that affects the immune system. While in the hospital, Stephanie learned about Make-A-Wish Hong Kong. She wanted to include her entire family in her wish, so she chose a trip to Tokyo Disneyland.
Disney fulfills more than 5,000 wishes for the Make-A-Wish Foundation alone each year, including theme park trips, visits to the set of a Disney film or television production, spending time with animators and meeting favorite characters.
