Hong Kong Disneyland Launches Sporting Excitement
Sports Magic to Rock the Resort
(HONG KONG, August 8, 2008) - In celebration of the exciting 2008 Beijing Event and to bring the true spirit of sportsmanship to Guests, Hong Kong Disneyland in support of TVB's broadcast of the Olympic Games, hosted special activities tonight in the Park; that included entertainment, celebrities, Disney Characters and TVB's live airing of the Olympic Opening Ceremony.
During the early evening, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, together with TVB's Olympic Stars - Bernice Liu, Raymond Lam, Linda Chung and Edwin Siu, kicked off the festivities for a crowd of excited Park goers. Waving Mickey sports themed flags, Guests enjoyed specially arranged entertainment that included the Disney in the Stars fireworks display and a special preview of the new show Mickey Presents Dream Sports Moments.
"As part of the Hong Kong community, Hong Kong Disneyland is excited that the Beijing Event has finally begun and we wish the athletes from all around the world the best of luck during the Games," said Maple Lee, Vice President, Marketing, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort. "The Resort will continue to bring sporting excitement to Guests during this momentous period."
From August 9 - 24, 2008, Guests can enjoy Mickey Presents Dream Sports Moments, an all-new entertainment experience created for the Park in celebration of the Beijing Games. Taking place at 6:00pm each day, Mickey Mouse and the gang, along with vibrant dancers, will invite Guests to participate in live high energy sports themed activities including "Mickey's Warm Up", "Minnie's Gymnastics", "Goofy's Weightlifting" and "Chip 'n Dale's Volleyball Challenge", to experience the true spirit of sportsmanship; a limited edition Disneyland Mickey Medal will be presented to selected participants. As a grand finale, Guests will be treated to a clip of that day's Olympic highlights, provided by TVB.
What's more, during the Olympics, the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort will offer a dazzling array of food and beverage items. From themed meals such as the Summer Games Salute at the Corner Cafe on Main Street U.S.A. to special drinks such as the Equestrian at the Sorcerer's Lounge (Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel) or Studio Lounge (Disney's Hollywood Hotel), Guests can embark on a culinary medley all summer long.
Guests staying at the two Disney themed hotels will be able to watch updates of the Games, provided by TVB, without commercials at the Sorcerer's Lounge or Studio Lounge.
