Sometimes the creation of
a new Disney park can take
a very long time. The first
discussions for a park in Hong
                                               Kong actually began in the
                                               1990s. The project was formally
                                               announced in November 1999
                                               and the park officially opened
                                               to public on September 12,
                                               2005.
                                               Penny’s Bay on Lantau Island
was selected as the future site
of Hong Kong Disneyland as it
would provide a stunning backdrop for the park and had a good transportation
       infrastructure for guests.
       Land reclamation was begun
to create the future home of
       Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.
